One of the first things I noticed after driving my SSR for a while is that the running board brackets get in the way when getting in or out, making it almost impossible not to step on them. To avoid scuffing the paint I modified my running board brackets, dropped them and brought them closer to the body.  This gets them out of the way, and helps to prevent dirt and rock chips on the rear fender as well.

Another issue with the SSR running boards is the rubber padding gets discolored. Some customers have had me "peel and paint" their running boards.  When combined with the bracket mod, this gives a sleek kustom look, making the SSR look lower with a more aggressive stance. Check out the pics below, and call for an estimate on getting your running boards "dropped, peeled and painted".

Gordon's SSR with modified running board brackets. Nice flames Gordon!
